On the occasion of Holi, renowned singer Anju Yadav, recently married to speech and hearing specialist Ramvinay Yadav, visited the Dom settlement in Rajgadh Rural Municipality–5, Saptari. The couple celebrated the festival with children by applying colors and distributing gifts such as clothes, notebooks, pencils, biscuits, and instant noodles.
Anju, originally from Bishnupur–1, Khuruhuriya, had previously adopted three girls from the Dom community—Shanti, Sajan, and Pinki Marik—as part of a school enrollment campaign. Despite her busy schedule, she returned to visit them with her husband, bringing wedding gifts and educational supplies.
Locals warmly welcomed the newlyweds with colored powder (abir), and the children affectionately called Ramvinay “bhinaju” (brother-in-law). The couple also pledged to support another girl, Ranjana Marik, and took on her guardianship as well.
During the visit, Ramvinay offered advice on health, sanitation, and protection from COVID-19. The villagers shared their challenges with him, and both he and Anju listened empathetically.
As a token of love, the women of the community gifted the couple two handmade bamboo fans (bena) and blessed them. Emotionally moved, Ramvinay promised to use the cash gift for the children’s education and said he would return again.
He remarked that the visit felt like being at his in-laws’ home and vowed to continue supporting Anju’s social work. Anju is the daughter of Neelam Devi and Tejnarayan Yadav, while Ramvinay is the son of Manthut Devi and Devnarayan Yadav of Lakshminiya–1, Dhanusha. Their wedding took place on Falgun 7 in a traditional ceremony.
